Windows to the Lake

In this painting, I interpreted and reimagined the reference photo to become a long view across the harbor to the city sky line. I wanted to evoke the sudden appearance of this view, so I used quick brushstrokes for the interior wall of my home. Using my palette knife I thickly applied paint to suggest the scene through the windows.
The colors of Lake Michigan are ephemeral, lasting mere seconds. Then they disappear, gone forever.
